Our ultimate source of authority for both FAITH and PRACTICE is the BIBLE, the Word of God. Therefore, we test all truth claims against the Bible and strive to live our lives in complete submission to its teachings.
A Confession or Statement of Faith can never replace or take precedence over scripture. However, in order to clearly explain and summarize what we believe the Bible teaches about primary theological issues, our church has adopted the Baptist Faith and Message as our primary statement of faith. You can download this statement of faith in English (Here) or Spanish (Here).
Our leaders are often asked about doctrinal distinctives that are not addressed in the Baptist Faith and Message. The following brief statements are not intended to be comprehensive but to provide a summary of where we stand on a few issues that we are commonly asked about. We are REFORMED in our Soteriology (What we believe about HOW God applies the work of Salvation to our lives.) You can find a good summary of our beliefs on this issue in this helpful article. We are COMPLEMENTARIAN in our beliefs about the roles of men and women. (A short statement of our affirmations and convictions in this are can be found here. For further consideration, you may want to download this lengthy article. We are NOT DISPENSATIONAL in either our Eschatalogy (our beliefs about HOW God will bring human history to it's culmination and end) NOR our Hermeneutical method (HOW we INTERPRET God's Word). We do not affirm a particular MILLENIAL perspective as a our leaders hold to a variety of positions on these issues. We are NOT CESSATIONISTS in regard to the Spiritual Gifts. We have genuine concerns and beliefs about HOW Spiritual Gifts are to be used and whether or not, as commonly expressed, they are AUTHENTIC. However, we see NO scriptural evidence that prohibits or eliminates ANY or ALL of the Spiritual Gifts from being practiced by contemporary believers. If you have questions or concerns about any of these statements of belief OR if you have a particular question about the theological beliefs and practices of our church, we encourage you to send us an e-mail at: firstname.lastname@example.org OR email@example.com
